The bass guitar is a great instruments to learn and be played by kids just like a six string guitar. However bass guitar for kids especially at the age of 4 to 9 yrs old is a bit harder to come by compared to a small scale guitar. There are only quit a few manufacturers that makes good quality short scale bass guitar that younger beginners can actually learn well with and has the quality to last them until they hit that growth spurt to already handle and carry a full size bass.

Here is another good sounding signature model from Fender called the Vintage Modified Jaguar Special SS that was made affordable thru Squier. This bass is the short scale version of the Modified Jaguar Special and as part of that line.

The body contours of the Jaguar made of agathis is somewhat similarly to a Jazz bass than a precision bass body, but with shorter horns making it looks smaller. Neck is shorter because the closer spacing of its 20 frets medium jumbo rosewood fingerboard compared to the Vintage Modified Jaguar bass.
